Orico's 6818 Series SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to SATA 6G adapter is designed to support all 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SATA drives up to any capacity (4TB+). For use with high-speed SATA 6Gb/s devices including SSD, HDD, and Hybrids. Utilizing SuperSpeed USB's maximum theoretical speeds of up to 5Gbps, the adapter easily accommodates the full bandwidth of SATA 3Gb/s, and roughly four fifths of the full bandwidth of SATA 6Gb/s [1]. The SuperSpeed USB to SATA 6G adapter is backwards compatible with SATA devices previous to SATA 6Gb/s.
The SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to SATA 6G adapter comes with an external AC adapter that provides up to 2.5 amps of power for either 3.5" or 2.5" hard drives. The adapter is backward compatible with USB 2.0, but recommended for use with SuperSpeed USB 3.0 in order to achieve optimal transfer rates.
