E1 version added! FarLinX X.25 Gateway X.25 to XOT and X.25 to TCP/IP Appliance L/HCG

E1 version added! FarLinX X.25 Gateway X.25 to XOT and X.25 to TCP/IP Appliance L/HCG

The FL2611N uses an E1 link (RJ48) as opposed to older style serial cables that the rest of the FL26** family deploys. This makes it suitable for installations requiring E1 connectivity.

The FarLinX X25 Gateway product range is the third generation of X.25 Gateway products from FarSite, providing a very flexible powerful gateway for your X.25 migration needs at a very affordable cost. It incorporates all the popular features of the previous product ranges with an improved browser interface and new comprehensive set of online statistics, connection logging and status change alert functions to put you in control. The condition of the Gateway can be monitored from a browser with current line status, real time line and data statistics and real time active user activity available. There are also daily activity logs with a selectable level of detail, automatically archived on a daily basis. The SNMP support can provide alerts for a number of different conditions including critical events such as line down and line up. Dual Gateway support is available such that 2 Gateways can share a common IP address to provide automatic switch over support for a range of conditions including X.25 line down and Gateway failure. Any such failures and switchover events will generate SNMP alerts so the network operator can instantly know what's happened.

The product can support protocols when the X.25 Host system treats the incoming X.25 data as a character stream. It can also convert the data when a header is used to describe the message payload within the TCP connections and remove this header on the X.25 virtual circuits. Data types supported include: RFC1006, Cisco RBP and special character delimiting. Dynamic routing is supported where the Client TCP application determines the X.25 address and call parameters used at the time the connection is established. XOT is supported so that the X.25 network can run over the top of an IP network. The Gateway can provide connectivity to several different Host systems at the same time with each can have different data conversion configurations. This Gateway can be used in conjunction with ISODE's X.400 Server's to provide X.400 messaging over X.25.

FarLinX X.25 to XOT and X.25 to TCP/IP Mini Gateway

FarLinX X.25 to XOT and X.25 to TCP/IP Mini Gateway
The FarLinX Mini Gateway is the smallest member of the FarLinX Gateway range - it can handle your smaller scale single X.25 line to TCP/IP migration requirements. It offers many of the same features as in the larger FarLinX X25 Gateway range but at a lower price and in a more compact enclosure. The Gateway supports XOT to X.25 switching, X.25 to TCP data translation and connection routing, TCP to XOT, a Triple-X PAD, and a Host PAD. All this is easily managed from your browser. There are also daily activity logs with a selectable level of detail, automatically archived on a daily basis. The SNMP support provides alerts for a numerous different conditions including critical events such as line down and line up. The more powerful FarLinX X25 Gateway range is more suitable where multiple and faster X.25 lines are used.

FarLinX TCP/IP to XOT Gateway Appliances with 2 free expansion slots

FarLinX TCP/IP to XOT Gateway appliances with 2 free expansion slots
FarSite has introduced specialized versions of their FarLinX X.25 Gateway X.25 to XOT and X.25 to TCP/IP Appliance line that feature no X.25 Lines. While this seems contradictory, there's actually a very good reason why these units are now available in this configuration. In fact, when we first saw these new devices, we emailed FarSite inquiring "Under what circumstances would someone
not want a X.25 line on the FarLinX X.25 Gateway-1 X.25 to XOT and X.
25 to TCP/IP Appliances?" FarSite's answer was as follows:

Good question. The customer who wants it have the following problem. A network running TCP but some application servers somewhere running X.25. These X.25 lines are converted locally to XOT then fed over the IP network (eg by a Cisco network device). Devices that want to use these application servers now have to talk XOT. This is where the FarLinX XOT Gateway comes in as it allows the Devices to use TCP and convert that traffic to XOT so they can talk over the IP network to the XOT supporting application servers.

Frankly we did not anticipate this requirement when we developed the Gateway product but we added the capability in due to customer requests, including some quite large ones.

The TCP/IP to XOT Gateway Appliances are available in four different configurations:

  • F-FL2600NFarLinX TCP/IP to XOT Gateway appliance 2 free expansion slots
  • F-FL2600EFarLinX TCP/IP to XOT Gateway appliance 2 free expansion slots (export restrictions)
  • F-FL2600N-48FarLinX TCP/IP to XOT Gateway appliance 2 free expansion slots (-48 VDC version)
  • F-FL2600E-48 FarLinX TCP/IP to XOT Gateway appliance 2 free expansion slots (-48 VDC version) (export restrictions)

FarSync T4E+ Additional Features

FarSync T4E+ Additional Features
FarSite's T4E+ card differs from their standard T4E card in the following ways:

Manchester encoding is supporting up to 10 MBits/s where the clock for the data is taken from the incoming data line. This means separate clock lines are not required. Manchester encoding is a soft configurable alternative to NRZ.

Line termination is supported on all the balanced pair signals for X.21 (V.11), V.35, RS530 (EIA530, RS422) and RS449 (RS422 signalling) operation. The line termination resistors may be soft selected to be selected or deselected on a port by port basis. The addition of line termination resistors can be helpful in improving signal quality on long high speed lines.

For more information and links to datasheets on both devices see the Synchrotech product page.
